Torque Inputs

Unit of Measure
Distance from pivot point to the farthest edge of the moving part.

Total weight of the moving component. Include all mounting hardware, handles, frames, electronics, etc.

Distance from the pivot point to the center of mass. If the weight is evenly distributed, leave the checkbox selected and we automatically use the midpoint of the product length. Or move the slider to position the Center of Gravity.

Select the angle where the product should remain in position. Required torque varies with angle and is typically highest near horizontal, lowest around vertical.

Move the arm to desired hold position. Once all inputs are entered, the calculated torque updates automatically as the angle changes.

Most applications use two hinges. Consider one torque element with a separate pivot for some lower torque designs, or add additional hinges for higher loads and to expand the range of suitable products.
