Gibson Chooses Reell for Point of Sale Kiosk Design
When Gibson Product Design was tasked with creating a device for one of the world's leading point-of-sale solution providers they turned to Reell to help create a unique premium-feel customer experience without compromising on strength and stability.
Gibson's design uses a Dual-ended RT-50 Hinge to provide smooth motion, while solidly holding the screen exactly where it is placed without sagging or drifting over time. The dual-ended attachment of the RT-50 allowed a single positioning element to replace two traditional hinges, reducing components count and cost in the design. The RT-50's long life and zero-adjustment operation, made it ideal for a device that needs to work seamlessly in the field for many years.
"With our design for the retail stand we wanted to create a unique merchant-customer point-of-sale experience. Our design, inspired by a teeter-totter, needed a position control hinge that would allow the tablet to remain steady at any position. The reliability and durability of the hinge was critical to long term performance, and Reell was able to offer exactly what we needed with an industry leading 50,000 cycles. Throughout the design process we were able to iterate and efficiently test with quick turnaround times on samples and we relied on their technical support throughout the project.
