What type of clutches do you manufacture?
Reell designs and manufactures electric and mechanical wrap spring clutches.
Are your clutches single or bi-directional?
Reell's clutches are normally single direction. We have the capability to manufacture a bi-directional electric clutch for high volume OEM applications.
What are the electrical requirements for your electric clutches?
Our clutches are available in 12 and 24 vdc versions. The maximum power requirement is 6 watts, and the maximum current draw is 500 milliamps. These numbers vary between clutch versions; please consult the specific clutch data sheet for this information.
Can your clutches slip if the rated load is exceeded?
Typically no. Our designs use wrap springs to provide a very positive engagement. If you require overload protection, we do have separate slip devices that can be used in conjunction with our clutches.
What is the typical life of your clutches?
All of our clutches are rated for 1 million cycles at the rated load in lb.-in. for each design. For example, the model EC20 is rated for 1 million cycles at 20 lb.-in. of total load. Life can be extended by lowering the ratio between application load vs. clutch rated load. Please contact a Reell Sales Representative to discuss your specific application needs.
Do you offer any products beyond those shown in your catalog?
